This week we we’re focusing on the creative workflow, understanding that working creatively can require a certain process, and in the end be able to produce relevant and practical solutions to whatever the problem is.
This weeks learning activity is part 1 of 4 of mandatory assignment 7:
- Week 1: Develop a name for a dog food product. Design a logo for this product.
- Week 2: Create an illustration, infographic and a brochure for your product.
- Week 3: Design a package for your product, make a life size mock up and photograph it.
- Week 4: Design a point-of-sale, photograph all elements together, make a professional presentation and write the report.
Product and Logo
The first task was finding a name….
I ended up with “Hardy Hound”..
Step one: exploration: Draw thumbnails.
Step two: focus: Highlight three of the thumbnail ideas that you consider the best options and state why.
Step three: construction: Redraw ONE of your chosen concepts until you’ve reached a conclusion on a successful logo. (This is the first sketch of the logo I was happy with):
Step four: testing: Experiment more with your favourite options from Step 3 and ask the opinion of a few people. Hand in examples of the logos shown to people and write their feedback or opinion on each.
Step five: refinement: Choose your final design and execute it in Adobe Illustrator.
Here’s the whole thing on PDF: HardyHound.
And thats it for this week. Next week I’m creating an illustration, an infographic and a brochure for my product.
Hope you’re enjoying the weekend!
